Hobbies/How do you spend your free time: I really enjoy reading and learning how to do new things. I’ve always had a knack for cooking since I was a little girl in the kitchen with my dad. I’m much more of a “throw things together” kind of cook than a recipe cook. I’ve started growing vegetables and herbs also this past year, so using those elements in my food takes things to another level. I love traveling and emerging myself in different cultures- food, dress, music, architecture.

Guilty pleasure: Food! Because I like to cook, I love experiencing new flavors and combinations of flavors, which leads to me eating A LOT of food. My degree in nutrition science and healthcare knowledge help ensure I maintain a well balanced diet, but sometimes you’ve got to splurge!

If Hollywood made a movie of your life who would you like to see play the lead role as you? Natalie Portman

Favorite part of your job: It’s been incredible applying everything that you are taught in school to actual patients and scenarios. It’s also an unbelievable feeling leaving “work” everyday knowing that you’ve impacted multiple people’s lives in a positive way.

Childhood dream job: I wanted to be a “baby doctor”, which I later found out was an OB/GYN, so I changed my mind. Next, I wanted to be a pediatrician.

What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you? I only have one kidney. It was removed when I was 15 because it never fully developed and had become extremely infected. Despite that, I have great kidney function!

Leadership positions: Treasurer and Vice President of Student Society of Pediatric Advocates. American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists liaison of Georgia Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists. Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group student committee Secretary.

What I’ve learned through my leadership positions: Similar to the saying “It takes a village to raise a child”, I feel that it takes a village to successfully run an organization. Running and maintaining an organization is hard work. It takes each individual working to the best of their ability to satisfy the responsibilities of their role whether it’s secretary or president. It seems contradictory, but working as a team towards a common goal is vital in successful leadership.

Favorite moment being a leader: My favorite moments were when others looked to me for advice and guidance. Throughout my rotations, I have begun to think about not only what kind of pharmacist I want to be but what kind of preceptor I want to be as well. The ability to pass on your knowledge to help others is definitely my favorite aspect of being a leader.

Advice I would give to future pharmacy students: Keep an open mind, and everything will happen the way it needs to! I have hit quite a few bumps in the road and reroutes throughout my journey in pharmacy school. As long as you do your best and stay active, everything will work out. My “dream job” has changed multiple times as I am exposed to what all I am able to do with my degree. Keep an open mind and stay positive. You’ve got this!
